It has cemented its place as a favorite Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) with its hassle-free services and over 1500 daily flights. Usually, there are long queues at the airport check-in counters as they need to deal with thousands of passengers. In order to avoid any inconvenience, IndiGo has offered an Auto check-in facility that makes the check-in process quick and straightforward.

IndiGo Auto check-in is an online process where you can check-in for your flight in advance from anywhere. It is an easy yet convenient way to complete the check-in process. The Auto Check-In is nothing but the IndiGo’s Web Check-In, where you auto-assign your seating instead of choosing in manually.

It was introduced to provide faster boarding services and reduces the burden of airline employees at the airport. It is also a cost-saving strategy for the airliners to reduce the cost of workforce and paper. You can use the IndiGo Auto check-in facility 48 hours to 2 hours before your scheduled departure time.


  • One of the important advantages of the Auto check-in service is that you do not have to reach the airport 3-4 hours before your flight and wait for your turn in the long queues at the airport for the check-in process.
  • In case you are not checking in with the baggage, you can directly go to the security checkpoint.
  • If you carry baggage, then you can simply drop off the luggage at its designated area and move forward for the mandatory security checks.

Step by Step guide for IndiGo Auto Check-in process:

Step 1: IndiGo Web Check-in:

In order to avail of the Web check-in facility, you should visit website. There you will come across the check-in tab on the top left corner.

Step 2: Find your booking:

After clicking the check-in tab, you would find the page requesting your PNR or Booking reference number, or booking confirmation number. Enter the correct PNR or Booking reference number along with your Email address and Last name, and then click check-in.

Step 3: Passenger page:

After clicking on the check-in button, you will be navigated to the passenger page, where you will have the options to choose either auto-assigned seats or proceed to select your seats based on your preferences manually.

Step 4: Select seats:

If you have opted for auto-assigned seats, you will be assigned the seats automatically. In case you have decided to choose manually, then you will land on the page to select the seats. You can choose from a variety of seats, including XL paid seats, paid seats as well as free seats. After selecting your seat, click on proceed to move further.

Step 5: Dangerous goods and restricted articles:

On the next page, you should check the list of dangerous goods and restricted articles and verify that you are not carrying any of the goods that are mentioned. Click on the I agree button to proceed to the next page.

Step 6: Web check-in successful:

You can finally see your boarding pass with all your details, scheduled flight departure time and flight number, etc. You could either take a print of this boarding pass or just show the digital boarding pass on your mobile devices to the airport personnel before boarding the flight.

Important things to remember before availing of IndiGo Auto check-in:

  • You may use the IndiGo Auto check-in option only when you have a confirmed reserved booking reference or PNR number.
  • You cannot use the Auto Check-in service to avail of special services such as wheelchair requests, traveling with infants, or help for an unaccompanied minor

  • If the Security department has allotted you a secondary screening request, you have to directly check-in to the airport.
  • If you are availing of IndiGo Auto check-in service, then your hand luggage should not weigh more than 7 kg. Your check-in baggage should not be more than 15 kg for domestic flights and 20kgs for international flights.
  • If you carry extra luggage, then additional charges may apply to range from ₹500 for 5kg and ₹1500 for 10 kg.
  • It is mandatory to keep a print out of your boarding pass along with the other relevant identifications and documents for a quicker boarding process.
